Short words on a crowded board

Lay them alongside an existing word

A short word fits gaps nothing else can use. Place SH or MY along a word that is already there and you score the cross-words too.

Find a letter square for the high tile

WHY is 12 points. With the H on a TL it is 20. For short words, the square matters more than the word.

Use a vowel on the board

You do not need a vowel on your rack if there is one on the board. Look for an open E or A and build around it. The Wordfeud helper lets you add a board letter.

When nothing fits

Swap in time

While at least seven tiles remain in the bag, you may swap. Skipping one turn costs less than scoring 6 points three turns in a row.

Prevent it

Do not play all your vowels in one word. Keep two or three back.
